Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q1.   Is game fishing in the Andaman Islands suitable if I’ve never fished before?

Anyone joining for the first time can come along on game fishing trips, but must be comfortable staying on a moving boat for several hours. Don’t think you need to know about fishing techniques in advance. Crew controls rod setup, lure deployment, and boat positioning.  Simply follow the instructions and stay alert when we are actively fishing.

  • Q2.   How physically demanding is a full-day game fishing trip?

A full-day trip is moderately demanding due to sea motion and long exposure, not because of continuous physical effort. Most of the time, we sit, file, wait, and observe lines. Physical effort only occurs during short strike periods. Individuals who can maintain balance when the vessel is in motion, take in liquids, and never experience nausea often manage full-day outings with little trouble.

  • Q3.   Do game fishing trips guarantee that I will catch a fish?

A catch is not guaranteed on game fishing trips. The fish movements that day will depend on currents, water temperature, and baitfishing. Fish may not bite even in productive zones. Operators create travel schedules depending on patterns. Fee paid covers offshore access, equipment, crew support, and not the catch outcome.

  • Q4.   Can I get seasick during game fishing, and how do people usually manage it?

Certainly, seasickness is a possibility, especially for people new to offshore boating. It mainly depends on sea conditions and personal sensitivity. Most guests achieve success by having light snacks before departure, staying hydrated, and remaining on deck. Medications help some people, but posture, airflow, and steering clear of screens often help most.

  • Q5.   Is it safe to take children or older adults on a game fishing trip?

A person’s age is not the only consideration in determining whether it is safe for you to go out to sea. Current conditions at sea will be considered along with your ability to remain seated and follow instructions.

    • It is safe for children and the elderly to go for short-duration trips
    • Operators may refuse participation if sea conditions are unsuitable

Children must always remain supervised and wear life jackets throughout the trip.

  • Q6.   Can I combine game fishing with sightseeing or snorkeling on the same day?

Usually, it is not practical to combine offshore fishing with other activities on the same day. Game fishing trips leave early and take considerable energy. Sea conditions and return timings fluctuate, making it a tight schedule. Most operators recommend keeping fishing for a separate day so that guests are fresh and alert on board and don’t get sleepy after the trip.

  • Q7.   What happens if the weather changes suddenly during a fishing trip?

If conditions outside worsen, the crew will turn back or cut the trip short. Safety decisions made onboard cannot be up for negotiation.  Partial trips do not qualify for refunds, as we’ve already consumed resources such as your fuel, crew time, and permits. Before departure, operators generally clearly inform about weather policies.

  • Q8.   Can I bring my own fishing equipment for game fishing?

You may use your own fishing equipment as long as it is suitable for offshore use. Offshore fish species can often not be caught using light gear or freshwater tackle. If there are safety risks or the boat won't work properly, the crew can prohibit you from using your private gear. Most guests prefer using onboard equipment, which is matched to local conditions.

  • Q9.   Is photography allowed during game fishing trips?

As long as it does not impact safety or fishing activity, we surely allow photography during fishing trips. Water splash and accidental movement will threaten the safety of cameras and phones. When the going is calm, the crew often assists with photos. However, once we start fishing, our focus stays on keeping the lines under control and keeping the deck safe.

  • Q10.   How far in advance should I plan a game fishing trip in Andaman?

Planning ahead improves availability and flexibility.

    • Booking 3–5 days in advance helps align with weather windows
    • Same-day bookings often fail due to permits and slot limits

Advance planning also helps coordinate early departures and accommodation logistics without rushing.
